Device Server - Serial to Ethernet
Serial communication has long been the standard in industrial automation. A large number of systems and machines still communicate via this technology at control and field level. In the meantime, Ethernet-based systems have taken over the leading role in modern automation applications.
ICPDAS-EUROPE has developed the device servers of the tDS-700 series and the DS-2200 for a reliable and cost-effective integration of existing serial terminals into a modern Ethernet infrastructure. Up to three serial interfaces for RS-232 and RS-422/485 are available.
tDS-700 series: 1x RJ-45 10/100 Base-TX, optionally with 3000 VDC isolation and +/-4 kV ESD protection
DS-2200 series: 2x RJ-45 10/100 Base-TX, optionally with bias resistor

Virtual COM Port with VxComm for serial Device Server
With the help of the free software "VxComm", a virtual COM port can be set up on Windows operating systems. Existing applications can access the data of the serial terminals in the usual way via this port. The power supply of the device servers can be realised via PoE (Power over Ethernet) as well as via a separate 12-48 VDC power supply unit. The ultra-compact housing is prepared for DIN rail mounting and takes up very little space with its overall width. ICPDAS-EUROPE now offers the tDS-700 device servers as an isolated version with 3000 VDC isolation and +/-4 kV ESD protection. Thus, the tDS-700 device servers bring serial devices safely into the Ethernet network.
